MEET DR. BERTHENA

Dr. Berthena Nabaa-McKinney is the proud mom/guardian of one Metro-Nashville Public School student - Omar (8) - who attends Stanford Elementary, and five Metro-Nashville Public School graduates - Ruqayyah (2004), Lailaa (2010), Isamar (2011), Amira (2016) and Todd Jr. (2018).  Dr. Berthena serves as the McGavock Cluster Coordinator on the MNPS Parent Advisory Council, as well as, the Coordinator of the Youth Leadership Program, YELL, a subsidiary of L’Evate (formerly Leadership Donelson-Hermitage).  Dr. Berthena and her husband, Todd, have lived in the Hermitage community for 22 years.

A former principal and MNPS teacher, Dr. Berthena has spent the last 25+ years in education, currently serving as the founder and CEO of Nabaa Consulting, LLC, an educational consulting and management firm specializing in school improvement and turnaround work for schools and districts across the nation.  Her career has focused on improving the educational outcomes for students, especially in our most underserved, marginalized and under-resourced communities.   

 

Berthena's educational background consists of:

  • Ed.D., Leadership & Professional Practice

  • M.Ed., Administration & Supervision (K-12)

  • B.S., Biology/Chemistry

  • A.S., Early Childhood Education

Dr. Berthena is highly qualified, passionate, and actively engaged in advocating for quality education for ALL students and families. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise at the local, state and national level which sets her apart from any candidate in the MNPS School Board race in District 4.
